Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is poised to enter the Republican presidential primary next week, as reported by multiple sources.

At a Miami donor gathering on May 25, DeSantis is anticipated to submit his campaign papers. He will then formally begin his 2024 US presidential campaign the following week, The Hill reported. The launch ceremony will be soon after Memorial Day in DeSantis' hometown of Dunedin, Florida.

As seen by his busy travel itinerary, Ron DeSantis has been actively preparing for a run for the White House. He's toured key Republican primary states and met with international leaders.

Ron DeSantis even posed with the media at a congressman's fundraiser picnic in Iowa. The governor's staff has somewhat changed how it handles media inquiries.

The Florida governor has been adding seasoned campaign operators to his team as he competes with former President Trump for the GOP presidential nomination. According to sources, he has started taking their advice instead of making decisions alone, according to NBC News.

DeSantis' staff is also aggressively seeking donations, realizing the need for a strong campaign war fund. To gather support and donations for his formal campaign launch, they invited bundlers to a retreat at the Four Seasons in Miami. DeSantis' staff has also worked to boost donor communications.

Ron DeSantis-Donald Trump Rivalry Expected To Heat Up

Notably, this development in Ron DeSantis 2024 presidential campaign comes while his conflict with Donald Trump, his possible GOP presidential rival, is becoming harsher. Although he claimed to have endorsed the Florida governor in 2018, the former president has been very critical of the governor's leadership.

In November 2022, Ron DeSantis won his second term as Florida governor with a roughly 20-point margin, per CBS News. He signed a six-week abortion restriction and concealed handgun carry legislation during the state's last legislative session, which ended in May. Ron Desantis has also highlighted bipartisan efforts to raise teacher wages, slash prescription medicine costs, and lower home goods taxes.
