The federal magistrate court delayed a hearing on Wednesday to determine whether to detain Jack Teixeira, a Massachusetts Air National Guardsman charged with leaking sensitive Pentagon documents, until his trial.

US District Magistrate Judge David Hennessy granted a two-week delay to allow Jack Teixeira's defense attorneys additional time to respond to the government's request to hold him in custody, according to USA Today.

The suspect's refusal to ask for a preliminary hearing in the matter was also confirmed during a short hearing Hennessy conducted on Wednesday. These proceedings provide further information explaining the government's case supporting the charges. However, Jack Teixeira signed a waiver on Monday.

Teixeira was seized by FBI investigators on Thursday at a residence in North Dighton, Massachusetts, in connection with a large number of leaked Pentagon documents posted online.

Jack Teixeira, who became a member of the Air National Guard in September 2019, held the federal government's highest security clearance for top-secret intelligence, according to Fox News.

At the Otis Air National Guard Base, Jack Teixeira served as a member of the 102nd Intelligence Wing and was promoted to Airman First Class in July, according to the unit.

The US Attorney General, Merrick Garland, has stated that Jack Teixeira, who is 21 years old, is being investigated in the Pentagon leak case for "alleged unauthorized removal, retention, and transmission of classified national defense information."

What's in the leaked Pentagon documents?

Jack Teixeira reportedly started sharing top-secret papers with the group recently, but the leaks gained more notoriety when another member posted them on an online discussion board.

The leaked Pentagon documents mostly deal with the Russia-Ukraine war, but they also include information about China, the Middle East, Israel's Mossad espionage organization, and international leaders.

In a related update, Hikvision, a leading provider of surveillance equipment in China, has refuted accusations that it unlawfully conceals goods provided to the US government to facilitate Chinese espionage.

Hikvision recently addressed charges included in a recently leaked Pentagon document, per the BBC When asked if it collaborates with Chinese intelligence services, the company did not respond.

The tech corporation is the biggest producer of security cameras in the world and is closely associated with the Chinese government.
