An Indian man in the state of West Bengal demonstrated in a viral video that it is hot enough to cook eggs in the sun amid the India heatwave.

Media sources indicate that the state, like many others in India, has seen daytime temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius, according to Straits Times.

On April 9, when the government of Bengal first announced the closure of schools, colleges, and universities due to a brutal India heatwave, Facebook user "Puchu Babu" filmed on his terrace, cracking an egg on a black non-stick pan.

The egg became completely cooked in a matter of minutes, omelet-like in texture, even in the absence of a burner.

Over 2.1 million people have seen the roughly four-minute video demonstrating the intensity of the India heatwave since it was posted on Facebook.

India Heatwave Expected To Persist

Meanwhile, it's quite unlikely that the high temperatures would fluctuate much over the following two days..
Over the last 8 days, parts of Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar have experienced heatwave temperatures.

Certain parts of India have closed schools due to the India heatwave, and an outdoor award ceremony in Maharashtra resulted in 13 fatalities and eight hospitalizations due to heatstroke, per The Guardian.

The extremely high temperatures have also led to health advisories in Thailand, where the health department cautioned individuals who work or exercise outside for long periods, including construction workers and farmers, of the danger of heatstroke.
