Apple's former senior sales executive, Doug Beck, is leaving the renowned tech giant as he moves forward with his career with a role at the United States (US) Defense Department.

Besides Beck, the Cupertino-based tech behemoth is recently losing some of its top brass, including its vice president for service, Peter Stern, and head of iCloud, Michael Abbott.

Apple's Ex-Sales Executive Resigns

According to a report by Bloomberg, Beck, the former senior sales executive of Apple, is parting ways with the renowned phone maker. He has recently resigned from the giant firm. Apple says that it backs the decision of its former exec. The tech firm states that it "[supports] Doug's public service and [wishes] him all the best."

The news outlet notes that the ex-sales executive was one of the top brass directly reporting to its chief executive officer (CEO), Tim Cook. He was reportedly one of the "fewer than 20 executives" who had this setup with the Apple big boss.

9to5 Mac highlights that Beck started working with the tech giant more than a decade ago, or in 2009, to be more precise. In his stint at one of the largest tech firms, he once managed the company's businesses not only in the North American region but also in Asia. On top of that, he also helped lead the global business of the iPhone maker.

Moving forward, the ex-Apple exec, Beck, is set to take a new role as he joins the US Department of Defense. No less than the Defense Department confirmed that Deck is joining its team. In a press release, the executive branch department revealed that Deck would be the next Director of the Defense Innovation Unit, shortly known as DIU.
