Former President of the United States, Donald Trump, has warned of "potential death and destruction" if he is indicted, which sparked online buzz.
  • Donald Trump warned of "potential death and destruction" if he is indicted in a New York probe
  • In an overnight Truth Social post, Trump implied that if he is prosecuted, bloodshed may ensue
  • Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg received an assassination threat

In a letter containing powder, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg was threatened with assassination, hours after former President Donald Trump warned of "potential death and destruction" if he is indicted by a grand jury in a criminal prosecution conducted by Bragg.

The letter with an Orlando, Florida, postmark from Tuesday was discovered in the DA's mail room in a lower Manhattan building. The mail contained non-hazardous white powder, according to the New York Police Department.

On-scene officials from the NYPD and the FBI, which has a nearby office, were probing the letter. A senior New York law enforcement official said that the threat against Bragg is one of the hundreds received in recent weeks as the District Attorney's office nears the conclusion of its investigation into Trump.

According to the official, a couple of dozen were deemed to pose a grave threat of direct harm to Bragg, but their believability varied. The law enforcement officer stated that the threats were being monitored and investigated.

FBI is probing a hush payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels soon before the 2016 presidential election by Trump's then-lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen. Trump's request to prevent former advisers from testifying before a grand jury in the January 6 investigation is denied by a judge. CNBC reported that the Manhattan District Attorney received a death threat and a box of powder.

Trump shared an article about Bragg, accompanied by a photograph of the former president carrying a baseball bat next to a Democratic district attorney with his hand up in defense. But, overnight, Trump referred to Bragg as a "degenerate psychopath" and issued a terrifying threat of "death and destruction" should he be convicted of a crime.

While Trump initially stated that he would be detained on Tuesday - and urged his fans to "protest!" - grand jury hearings have concluded for the week, so a potential indictment will not be issued until at least Monday.

Wednesday, a source told DailyMail.com that Bragg is having difficulty convincing the jurors to accept the evidence. It is a poor case that has divided the district attorney's office. Trump has employed provocative language throughout the week in his Daily posts on the case.

On Thursday, he rejected pleas for his supporters to remain "calm" if he is prosecuted, which would be unprecedented because no former president has ever been charged in a criminal investigation after leaving office. This social media post was a factor in Thursday's decision by a US District Court to keep jury members anonymous in a separate Trump-related case, the defamation action filed against Trump by rape accuser E. Jean Carroll.

Donald Trump Post Sparks Outrage

US District Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled that an anonymous jury was necessary due to the trial's unprecedented circumstances, including substantial pre-trial publicity and a high likelihood that jurors may fear intimidation, unwarranted intrusions of privacy, and reprisal.

According to the court, others have interpreted the ex-president's March 18 demand for protest and to take our nation back if he is prosecuted in the separate hush-money case as an invitation to violence. The former president was photographed at his West Palm Beach golf club on Thursday, but he is set to go to Waco, Texas, on Saturday for a campaign event, his first Texas rally of the 2024 presidential season.

Donald Trump provoked outrage when he posted an image of himself brandishing a baseball bat next to the head of the Manhattan district attorney overseeing the investigation against him. Per The Independent, opponents were eager to call attention to the Truth Social post featuring Bragg and demand that Trump be punished.

Bragg's office criticized the House Republican heads of the House Judiciary, Oversight, and Administration committees in a letter stating that the inquiry constituted an "unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority."
