French President Emmanuel Macron is one historic leader. He is the first French leader to be reelected in 20 years after he defeated Marine Le Pen in a runoff vote in April.

President of the United States Joe R. Biden even called French President Emmanuel Macron to congratulate him on his re-election and expressed his willingness to continue working closely with him on shared global goals, according to the White House.

Born Dec. 21, 1977, Macron also became the youngest president in French history at age 39 in 2017. He is also recognized as the first French president born after the establishment of the Fifth Republic in 1958.

Observers say that Macron's leadership approach is focused on delivering the French people something fresh and his appeal transcends boundaries previously drawn by the left and right-wing leaders. That is why the French people look up to him.

He Is a Fan Of Football

Macron has a passion for football. He also participates in the sport. In late 2021, he took part in a charity football match, and footage shows him taking a penalty. Per The Local fr, his shot, true to political form, went straight down the middle and into the goal.

He Worked As A Banker

Macron started his career in public service by working for the French Ministry of Economy and Finance as a finance inspector in 2004, per Britannica. Macron took a job as an investment banker with Rothschild & Cie Banque, the French part of the international Rothschild banking business, in October 2008. He had only been a banker for four years at the time.

He Studied In Prestigious French Schools

Macron studied philosophy at Paris Nanterre University before graduating from école Nationale d'administration with a master's degree in public affairs from Sciences Po. Both of these schools are among the most distinguished in France.

He Married His High School Teacher

Macron is wedded to Brigitte Trogneux, Emmanuel's high school acting teacher. He has seven grandkids by marriage, thanks to Brigitte's three children from a previous marriage per US News. Brigitte is his senior by 24 years.

Macron met Trogneux when he was 15, according to French writer Anne Fulda's book Emmanuel Macron: A Perfect Young Man. Macron promised to marry her at the age of 16.

Trogneux and Macron married in 2007 after her previous marriage collapsed.

Despite a difficult start, their romance is still going strong. Brigitte's adult children are said to be getting along well with their stepfather, who is their age.

In 2017 Macron's stepchildren campaigned for his presidential candidacy.

Although the couple does not have children, they have acquired a rescue dog named Nemo.

Before his presidency, Macron had never held an elected position.

Macron served as Economy Minister, an appointed role, under departing Socialist President Francois Hollande for two years until resigning in 2016 to seek the presidency per USA Today. He had never held elected office until his first term as president.
