Elon Musk and his on-and-off girlfriend Grimes have broken up again for the second time, according to the singer, just hours after she disclosed the shocking news that they had discreetly had a second child together through a surrogate in December.
In a series of tweets about her new cover interview, in which she shared the news of their baby's arrival, she revealed her daughter's name, Exa Dark Sideræl or 'Y' for short, and described Elon, 50, as her "boyfriend," the 33-year-old singer confirmed that the couple has called it quits on their relationship.
Grimes Opens Up About Status with Elon Musk
During her interview with Vanity Fair, Grimes discussed her "fluid" relationship with Elon Musk, who is worth an estimated 228.7 billion dollars, revealing that the pair was still emotionally linked and co-parenting their two children while living in different residences.
She also discussed the couple's new baby girl, but only after the Vanity Fair journalist interviewing in Grimes' new Austin, Texas, house overheard the baby crying in an upstairs room, according to Daily Mail. The couple already had a boy, X AE A-12, known as X, who was born in May 2020, but Grimes said the couple had a girl during an interview at her home in Austin, Texas, after "unmistakable" noises were heard coming from upstairs.
Grimes, whose actual name is Claire Elise Boucher, claimed that the daughter was born in December through a surrogate and that her name was inspired by supercomputing, space, and time. Exa refers to the supercomputing phrase exaflops, or the ability to do one quintillion floating-point operations per second, as used by Dark Siderael Musk.
Dark refers to dark matter, a hypothetical kind of substance that makes up a significant portion of the cosmos but which science has yet to completely comprehend. Finally, Sidereal, pronounced "sigh-deer-ee-el," is "a more elven" spelling of Sidereal, which is "the true time of the cosmos, star time, deep space-time, not our relative earth time," as defined by Grimes.
Grimes and Musk have given the baby the nickname Sailor Mars, referring to the Sailor Moon manga series. Elon Musk, who was selected Person of the Year by Time in 2021, is the father of seven children. With his ex-wife Justine Wilson, he had twin sons Griffin and Xavier in 2004 and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian in 2006. Musk announced in May 2020 that Grimes had given birth to their first child, a baby boy called X A-12 Musk. Grimes' first child, but Musk has five sons from a previous marriage. Nevada, his first son, died tragically of SIDS at the age of ten weeks in 2002.
