Millions of people suffer in Ukraine, desperate for food, water, medical assistance, and safety, with many going into hiding to stay alive amid the Russian invasion of their country.

According to the International Organization for Migration, 1.45 million Ukrainians have fled the country as a result of the Russian invasion, the largest European exodus since World War II.

The majority of Ukrainian refugees have gone to Poland, while the rest have gone to Moldova, Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia.

As of March 5, Russia's military strikes had killed at least 351 wounded, and 707 Ukrainians, according to the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Officials in Ukraine have declared a national emergency, and citizens displaced by conflict will require assistance.

The ongoing crisis in Ukraine prompted charity campaigns across the globe to help out civilians affected by the war. Though, authorities warn of scammers taking advantage of the kindness of others with the use of digital technology. Sometimes, these fraudsters not only steal money but also private data.

According to Michelle Dennedey, per NBC Bay Area report, CEO of cyber security company Privacycode, scammers now are good at copying charitable websites and composing messages that look legit.

Americares - The Americares group is assisting families in need in Ukraine by sending medicine, medical supplies, emergency funding, and medical specialists. It is currently requesting donations to assist finance the expenses.

Global Giving - Global Giving has launched a fundraising campaign to supply refugees in Ukraine and the surrounding territories with clean water, food, and shelter.

Hope for Ukraine - Hope for Ukraine is collecting donations to assist Ukrainian people with basic needs amid the ongoing conflict.

Project Hope - Families in Ukraine are receiving medicine, supplies, and assistance through Project Hope. Donations are being welcomed to support the delivery of relief goods.

UK's Charity Campaign

Meanwhile, Sky News reported that 15 charity organizations in the United Kingdom initiated a joint fundraising campaign to assist millions of refugees moving away from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently announced that the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) started the endeavor wherein each pound donated by the British citizens will be matched by the government up to the value of £20 million.

According to the committee, 13 DEC member organizations, along with the British Red Cross and ActionAid, are responding to the Russian invasion in Ukraine and its neighboring nations.
