According to new statistics from the Transportation Security Administration, officers from the agency confiscated firearms at record-high rates last year.
The TSA publicized some figures on gun collection at airports on Friday, according to CSN Washington.
According to the numbers, officers collected 1,813 guns at various security checkpoints nationwide in 2013. Around 80 percent of the firearms confiscated last year were loaded.
Compare that to 2012's collection tally, which topped out at 1,556.
The Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall airport had the largest number of guns caught last year out of the entire D.C. metropolitan area, CSN Washington reported.
13 guns were confiscated from Thurgood Marshall Airport. Following in second and third were Dulles International and Ronald Reagan Washington National airports, where eight and six guns were caught.
