ABC's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is adding a new Marvel character to the show. According to Marvel.com, Deathlock will be joining to celebrate the character's 40th anniversary.

Mike Peterson (played by J. August Richards) will be turning into Deathlock, who has a "high-tech eye that allows him to see through walls, super strength and increased speed courtesy of a cybernetic leg."

The "new" Mike will "struggle to find the man in the machine," Marvel writes.

"We have been waiting all season for this moment where we can reveal that Mike Peterson's story arc is an origin story," executive producer Jeffrey Bell told the site. "We're thrilled to have J. August Richards playing Deathlock and to have our audience enjoy this favorite Marvel character on the show."

Richards told the site he's excited to play the comic book character on TV.

"If you would have asked me when I was nine-years-old what I wanted to be, I would have said a super hero and I'm so excited to be one now as an adult on TV!" he said. "It's a dream come true."

At first it was speculated that Richard's character would play Luke Cage. Fans will still get to see Luke Cage, who has landed a series on Netflix for 2015.

According to E! News, Deathlock isn't the only Marvel character being added to the show. Jamie Alexander will reprise her role as Lady Sif in an upcoming episode and Bill Baxton will play Agent John Garrett.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is based on the Marvel Comics organization S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division). On the series Agent Phil Coulson puts together a small team of agents to handle cases and to try and save the world from supernatural events.

The episode featuring Deathlock will air Feb. 4 at 8 p.n. on ABC.
