Beastie Boys Land Memoir Deal

"No Sleep Till Brooklyn" hip-hop groundbreakers, the Beastie Boys, have signed a new deal to publish a memoir of the lives and careers of the three MCs.

Inking a deal with Random House, the two surviving members, Adam Horovitz and Michael Diamond are ready to invite fans into a closer look of the famed group, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The Spiegel & Grau book deal does not have a title as of yet, but will be released in fall 2015, The New York Times reported.

Fans can expect the opposite of any traditional memoir out on the market. Julie Grau, publisher of Spiegel & Grau said the group is "interested in challenging the form and making the book a multidimensional experience."

"There is a kaleidoscopic frame of reference, and it asks a reader to keep up," she said.

The book will follow along the lines of their Grand Royal magazine with vivid commentary, humor, and a mixture of voices, according to The Times.

"The first words out of Mike's mouth were, 'I don't want to do a straight memoir," said Beastie Boys' agent, Luke Janklow.

Janklow said the group had been in talks to produce the project for some time, until founding member, Adam Yauch became ill.

"After Yauch died, I didn't push them but I think that Adam and Mike ended up realizing that it was the right time for them," Janklow said.

Yauch, better known as MCA, died last year at the age of 47. Yauch suffered from a cancer that attacked his salivary gland.

Sacha Jenkins, a veteran hip-hop journalist, will edit the upcoming memoir. The "Fight for Your Right" rappers, Ad-Rock and Mike D are in good company at Random House, where Jay-Z's "Decoded" was also published.
