The function will take place at Basketball City at Pier 36 in New York and it is being organized to felicitate the star performers of the league.

Notably, this is the first-ever awards ceremony from NBA's side and there are several categories under which the basketball players will be honored. They include "Most Valuable Player," "Most Improved Player," "Defensive Player of the Year," "Rookie of the Year," "Coach of the Year," and "Sixth Man Award."

Apart from these above-mentioned award categories, other categories are also in the offing and they will be decided by the votes of the fan. The announcement about these categories and the nominees will be made today and this event is going to be star-studded one as big names from the sports and entertainment industry are slated to grace the occasion, NBA reported.
