A 17-year-old Philadelphia student who opened fire on two classmates reportedly acquired his weapon from a former student who got through school metal detectors with ease.
Police told the Associated Press that 18-year-old Donte Walker, who entered school campus as a "guest," was seen on video surveillance swapping the gun for money with a man whose identity remains unknown.
Authorities said they believe the firearm was then passed on to Raisheem Rochwell, who was allegedly afraid of being attacked after school and wanted to arm himself.
Rochwell reportedly shot two fellow students - a male and female, both 15 years old - in their arms in Delaware Valley Charter High School's gymnasium on Friday, according to a report from Reuters.
Rochwell turned himself in to police on Saturday, and is currently being held on aggravated assault and a handful of other, related charges.
The two injured students received treatment at Albert Einstein Medical Center immediately after the shooting and were released on Monday.
