It looks like the upcoming fourth film installment in the immensely popular blockbuster series "Jurassic Park" won't include the original film actor Sam Neill, bad news for fans hoping for some veteran blood in the new film.
During an interview for Neill's upcoming film, The Adventurer: The Curse of Midas Box, the Examiner asked the star of the original Jurassic Park film if he would be coming back to reprise his role as Dr. Alan Grant for the fourth film, "Jurassic World," even if he were offered the opportunity.
"Look, you never say no," Neill answered. "I think there's a whole new cast and a whole new look at things, and I think that's great. As I said, I'd never say no, but I wish them... well, I'm sure it's going to be great, but they don't need me."
This could be an indication that this is the first step toward an entire new generation of actors and characters. This could be an attempt to separate the franchise from the original trilogy to make room for something entirely different with each upcoming sequel. The previous trilogy all starred actors from the first film.
According to IGN, neither Laura Dem, who played Doctor Ellie Sattler, nor Jeff Goldblum, who played Doctor Ian Malcolm, have confirmed any connection to next year's "Jurassic World"
Unless the actors are going implementing a distinct strategy of "deny, deny and then deny some more in order to keep it a surprise," it looks like the fourth installment in the series will act more as a reboot in terms of characters.
Jurassic World opens on June 12, 2015. Tell us what you think about the sequel, would you rather see some of the classic characters reprise their roles in the new film or are you excited to see what a new batch of dinosaur victims will look like? Comment and share your thoughts with us below.
