Phoenix Suns guard Brandon Knight have been a regular figure in trade rumors for the past few days. Having linked to being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics, it's a wait-and-see scenario for him now.

Earlier rumors have spread that the Suns placed Knight on the trading block together with fellow teammate Eric Bledsoe for a possibility of getting a high caliber player in return. But it looks like that Knight will be the one to go while Bledsoe will remain as Suns' point guard. And now, it seems that Knight has a suitor right away.

The San Antonio Spurs are allegedly aiming the 24-year old guard Knight as a possible substitute to their aging court general Tony Parker, according to ASZ News. Entering his 16th season on NBA, Parker is deemed to retire anytime soon and the Spurs are preparing for their backcourt's future. Parker just recently withdrew to compete in an international competition for the French national team to conserve some energy before he retires.

The report also says that Patty Mills is their backup for the point guard spot as of the moment but besides him, no one will support their backcourt should Parker retire. The Spurs are known to plan well for their future - a sample of this is their acquisition of LaMarcus Aldridge as a replacement for the recently-retired Tim Duncan. Kawhi Leonard is deemed to replace Manu Ginobili after the season and now they are preparing for Parker's alternate.

In a separate report by Sportsrageous, it's best that the Suns trade Knight for Parker now and save some money from this deal. Parker only has two years in his contract worth USD 30 million while Knight has four years left worth USD 56.5 million.

The Suns could also request for additional future draft picks from San Antonio to have it more enticing for them, as per stated in the report. Although it is expected to be a high pick, the Suns can use it for their future and potential upgrades if ever.

This rumor is still speculative and no confirmation has come from both teams but if the Spurs are looking ahead right now, this might be the best deal for them.
