The storm made its landfall at the eastern part of Cuba Tuesday night, as reported by the US National Hurricane Center. The storm continues to go stronger as it's set to go over Bahamas overnight.

Strong wind, heavy rain in Haiti

Hurricane Matthew hit Haiti on Tuesday with heavy rains and strong winds. "The river has overflowed all around us, "It's terrible... a total disaster." Louis St. Germain a church pastor said. Massive flashfloods and mudslides in the area are expected. The bridged connected to the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince collapsed, making it hard for emergency volunteer responders to give relief efforts. Problems with communication towers arose as several trees have been downed. Seven people are confirmed dead and cruise ships changed the course as the officials declared state of emergency in the area.

"We've already seen deaths. People who were out at sea. There are people who are missing. They are people who didn't respect the alerts. They've lost their lives," Interim Haitian President Jocelerme Privert said at a news conference.
