Newborn twins Lorraine and Brandon Begazo will celebrate their birthdays in separate years.
The Begazo twins’ birth has a perfect timing; Lorraine was born at 11:58 p.m of December 31, 2013 while her twin brother, Brandon came a few minutes later at 12:01 am, January 1, 2014 making their births happen in separate years, according to the Washington Post.
The twins, born at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center were among the first births of the year 2014. The twins and their mother are doing okay but they are still in the hospital to give Yaleni Begazo, 39, ample time to recover from the giving birth of her twins.
Their father, Warren Begazo, was very delighted to see his children. He shared the wonderful experience with the Washington Post describing Lorraine as his “princess”. The baby girl weighed six pounds while Brandon weighed in at about five pounds. Warren said that Brandon is the quieter among the two, he described him as the “…passive… the quiet one- for now.”
Warren admitted that the idea of having twins came as a shocking news to him at first. He told the Washington Post he was “…in shock and happily anxious. I worried about the responsibility for two at once, their college funds.” But they “will give Dylan a chance to be called brother, and he won’t be alone at home anymore.” Dylan is Warren’s 18-year old son from a previous marriage.
The Begazos are originally from Peru before they moved in the U.S after Warren got a job as a waiter at the National Press Club while his wife got one at a child care facility.
The peculiar timing of Lorraine and Brandon’s arrival is not a very unusual case. According to a Canadian CTV News, a similar birth happened in Toronto as one woman was recorded to give birth similar to the Begazo twin’s timing; one arrived as the last baby for 2013 while the other became one of the first babies of 2014.
