Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson continued to be friends despite their split in May 2013. This week, the actress made headlines when she admitted that she is happier dating a girl and sources close to Rob says he is 'very supportive' of his ex-girlfriend's decision.

Kristen gave Rob a heads up about the interview and he was very supportive. He told her he was proud of her," an insider said referring to the actress' cover interview with Elle magazine's September issue.

A source speculated that the 26-year old actress alluded about her past relationship with Twilight co-star before admitting she is happier dating her assistant, Alicia Cargile.

"When I was dating a guy I was hiding everything that I did because everything personal felt like it was immediately trivialized, so I didn't like it. We were turned into these characters and placed into this ridiculous comic book, and I was like, 'That's mine. You're making my relationship something that it's not.' I didn't like that.

"...it changed when I started dating a girl. I was like, 'Actually, to hide this provides the implication that I'm not down with it or I'm ashamed of it, so I had to alter how I approached being in public. It opened my life up and I'm so much happier," she further said.

The actress is rumored to be dating Cargile since 2015 after the pair were spotted holding hands. However, the romance reports died down with Stewart spotted dating French singer, Soko later on.

The Kristen-Alicia tandem resurfaced in the spring of 2016 when the two were photographed attending the Cannes Film Festival. This month, they were having a sweet PDA moments while strolling in the streets of  Los Feliz, California after a coffee.

During the interview, Stewart revealed more personal details about her struggle dealing with anxiety.

'"I went through so much stress and periods of strife. I would have panic attacks...I literally always had a stomach ache. And I was a control freak and I couldn't anticipate what was going to happen in a given situation, so I'd be like, "Maybe I'm going to get sick."'

She went on saying that she has outgrown that phase and is sporting a positive outlook in life.

"I obviously hope everything going on right now will work out, but I am confident that life is good and I'll be OK whatever happens," she said.
