Amy Schumer looks seriously stunning on the May cover of Vanity Fair, which was shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. In the cover photo, the "Inside Amy Schumer" actress embodies a pinup girl with her blonde hair in old-school waves as she poses against a red background in a red corset.

Inside the magazine, the actress opened up about a number of topics like her friends and love life but most notably the shooting that took place in Lafayette, La., during a showing of her hit film, "Trainwreck," which killed two people and injured nine. In the article, the 34-year-old told the story of how she found out about the shooting and even said at that moment she regretted ever writing "Trainwreck." Schumer said she was sitting by herself in a Los Angeles hotel room when she noticed she had "a million" missed calls from her publicist.

"I was laughing before I called her back, because I thought it was going to be like a sex tape (had surfaced) or something. So, I was kind of laughing," Schumer said. "And then she told me there had been this shooting. It really … I don’t know.

"It’s like when ‘The Dark Knight’ shooting happened, and in Paris. The idea of people trying to go out and have a good time — you know, like looking forward to it? — I don’t know why that makes me the saddest,” Schumer told her interview, who noted that she was crying at this point.

"So my publicist told me. And then I put on the news. I was by myself in a hotel, and I was just like, I wish I never wrote that movie."

Schumer added that she knew the shooting was not her "fault," but that did not make her feel better.

"I just felt helpless and stupid," Schumer said.

As a result of the tragedy, the comedian teamed up with her second cousin, Sen. Chuck Schumer, to campaign for gun control reform after he reached out to her.

"I was like, 'Let's go. Let's do it,'" she said.
