Josh Jackson has been under the national spotlight a lot recently with the McDonald's All-American game and now the Nike Hoops Summit. Jackson is drawing a lot of attention not only because he is a really good basketball player, but also because people want to know where he is going to play his college basketball.
Jackson has been down to three schools (Michigan State, Kansas and Arizona) for quite some time now, but it seems like he is finally ready to announce his decision. He says that he already has his mind made up on where he will go; now, he just has to announce it.
While Jackson hasn't set an exact date yet, he said that he will announce next week either on Monday or Wednesday, with Monday looking most likely. He is expected to hold a press conference in the Detroit area, which is where he is from.
Jackson is a 6-foot-7 forward that is considered a five-star prospect and ranked as the third best player in the 2016 recruiting class and second best small forward. His decision will have a major impact on the landscape of college basketball next season, as he is expected to come in and have an immediate impact.
As for where Jackson may end up, it is looking like Kanas is still the favorite, and pretty significantly. Obviously, these predictions aren't the end-all be-all, but they are typically pretty on point. Behind the Jayhawks, Michigan State and Arizona are both seen as long shots, but they both make pretty good cases.
Michigan State is the forward's hometown school, and he has friends already committed there. Miles Bridges, a Spartan commit, is very friendly with Jackson and has been recruiting him to come join what is already the third best class in the nation. As for Arizona, they, too, have a top 10 recruiting class to boast (#7), and they are expected to be one of the top teams in the nation.
Kansas' recruiting class isn't quite as good as the other two schools in on Jackson, as they have two commits (Udoka Azubuike and Mitch Lightfoot), giving them the 42nd best class in the nation. What the Jayhawks do have is one of the best coaches in the nation in Bill Self, and they will also give Jackson the opportunity to come in and be the star of the team immediately. As mentioned before, nothing is guaranteed in terms of Jackson's choice, but it shouldn't surprise anyone that Kansas is considered the favorite.
