Hot on the heels of the last week's reveal involving the alleged "leaked" Nintendo NX controllers, another rumor about Nintendo's upcoming device has emerged on the Internet. This time, it is all about the specs, and according to the rumor, Nintendo's upcoming flagship console is set to eclipse this generation's champion, the Sony PlayStation 4, both in power and in features.

Considering that the gaming community is still reeling from the revelation that the "leaked" controllers were ultimately fake, there has been, unsurprisingly, a lot of doubt about the validity of the new set of rumors about the NX's internals.

The new rumors, which were posted on Reddit, were started by a person who is allegedly working on a AAA title for the upcoming next-generation console. According to the original poster, the device they are working with has controllers that are far different from those in last week's alleged "leaks." Rather, the Nintendo NX devkit that they have been given for the AAA game's development has controllers that are rectangular, much like the lower half of the Nintendo 3DS.

The rumor further suggested that the controller of the Nintendo NX works a lot like a game system on its own. However, despite its capability to play games and internals that are allegedly as powerful and capable as a mid-range smartphone, the NX's controller would not be marketed as a replacement for the company's ubiquitous 3DS.

The poster on the Reddit thread further stated that the Nintendo NX devkit they were issued for the AAA game's development was rather spartan, being just a regular black box that features four USB ports and a disc drive. Internally, the device boasts very impressive and formidable specs, with a 1TB hard drive and 8GB worth of RAM.

Of course, such specs are still pretty much up for speculation. After all, even if the rumors are true, the device issued was a dev kit from Nintendo itself. Thus, the devkit might be equipped with a different set of internals from the final production model.

If there is one thing that might be disappointing about the NX, however, it is the fact that the original poster on Reddit stated that from what the developers could tell, the Nintendo NX does not appear to be backward compatible at all.

Unsurprisingly, Nintendo has been completely silent about the rumors, with the gaming giant refusing to issue any comment to refute or confirm the speculations. Nevertheless, this new set of rumors does sound a lot more legitimate than last week's "leaked" controllers, which were mostly images.

If the rumors are true and the Nintendo NX does have internals that rival the PS4, Nintendo might very well have a winner on their hands once more. After all, Nintendo dominated by a landslide with the Wii, which was underpowered compared to its rivals. One could just imagine how much Nintendo could do with this much more.
