It looks like the past may be too hard to escape for Subway pitchman turned child predator Jared Fogle. In what can only be described as an ironic twist of fate, what made Fogle famous to begin with is what he will now spend his time in Englewood dealing with: sandwiches.

Yes, that's right. The staff at the Colorado federal correctional facility clearly have a cruel sense of humor for Fogle's first job - they assigned him to the cafeteria where he serves sandwiches to fellow inmates.

It's the perfect post for the former face of Subway and that irony hasn't been lost on anyone in the prison. The guards got a kick out of Fogle's new gig and other inmates have been snickering about it as well. Granted, they did display some jealousy due to their perceived notion of Fogle receiving celebrity treatment with a cushy job, so much so that officials opted to move him from the inmate cafeteria for his safety.

Now Fogle serves food at the correctional officers' cafeteria where he deals with higher-end foods like steaks alongside his sandwich staple.

So how has Fogle been doing for the first several months of his 15-year sentence? Pretty well - depending on your definition of the word "well." Reports indicate that he put on 30 pounds by stress-eating honey buns - an allegation that his attorney, Ronald Elberger, denies. In fact, he says Fogle has been eating quite well, consuming soups, burgers, beef stew and enchilada casseroles. Fogle even exercises - or so Elberger would have us believe.

Most recently, Fogle made headlines when, on January 29, he was attacked by fellow inmate Steven Nigg, 60, who is serving time for his connection to a series of robberies. While Nigg walked away from the fight unscathed, Fogle was left with a bloody nose, swollen face and scratches on his neck. The altercation stemmed from one of the greatest taboos among inmates in the country - being a child sex predator. You can murder, steal, lie and cheat, but apparently being a pedophile lies outside their moral compass.

That beating is part of the reason why Fogle was moved to the correctional officer's cafeteria to begin with and that move is likely to cause him more trouble down the line as moving from the inmate cafeteria is technically a "promotion."

With all that said, it's unclear if he gets to eat the food he now serves.
