Bras Make Breast Sag, French Study Shows

Bras are supposed to help women relieve themselves of back pains and keep the breasts firmer however according to a 15 year French study; bras or brassieres make the breasts “saggier”.

This was concluded through a research conducted by Prof. Jean-Denis Rouillon at University of Besançon.

According to Rouillon, he had observed a total of three hundred thirty women and keep statistics on their breast size and firmness. Over the span of time, the studies showed that bras actually did not help in easing back pains and keep the breasts aloft.

Research had shown that the bras did not help women ease back pain nor did the clothing prevent breasts from becoming saggier.

Researchers have learned that the brassieres used by women prevent the growth of tissues that help keep the breasts firm.

According to these researchers, leaving the breasts out of cups would help make them tone and firm and learn to support themselves. Women who stopped using bras had great results. Their breasts became firmer and more toned and the stretch marks from tight bras disappeared.

Many women have concluded that bras do not really do much help because it causes them to feel tight around the chest area. Most have said that after refraining from using a bra they were able to breathe better, feel a lot at ease and carry themselves better.

Though the study encourages women to stop wearing bras it does not imply that women should through away their upper garments. As per Rouillon, it is a norm that women wear bras and that throwing away old brassieres would not help them gain any good results.

"Medically, physiologically, anatomically - breasts gain no benefit from being denied gravity," said Rouillon. "On the contrary, they get saggier with a bra." said Rouillon.

The women who have decided to abandon their bras are just a small sample of society and do not represent women in general. Women could lessen the use of bras by taking them off when at home.
