The late Princess Diana's fairy-tale inspired dress recently sold for a massive $167,000.
According to Yahoo! Shine, the embellished designer gown once worn Diana was purchased at the biannual Passion for Fashion auction in London on Tuesday. The money was shelled out by an unnamed museum that is reportedly not in Great Britain.
The dress is made of white tulle and satin, decorated with gold sequins and dazzling pearls. The gown has a sweetheart neckline and an A-line silhouette, and includes a matching headband and detachable arm bands.
The Princess reportedly bought the gown straight off the runway during a Red Cross charity fashion show in 1986. Diana is said to have worn the fairy-tale gown three times in 1987, rocking different accessories every whenever she put it on.
Diana's dress was designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel, who called the dress "the kind of thing you either love or hate," Yahoo! reported. The design duo also was responsible for another one of Diana's iconic looks: her royal wedding gown.
According to the Daily Beast, the formerly married designers are feuding over who took the famous phone call with Diana.
"I picked up a call in the studio and she said: 'It's me.' She never said 'Lady Diana.' ...She said, 'I'm just wondering, would you do the honor of designing my wedding gown?'" David Emanuel said during an episode of "I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here."
However, an excerpt from the ex-couple's joint book titled "A Dress For Diana" stated otherwise, putting the he-said, she-said rumors to rest:
"Eventually, Elizabeth picked it up and a voice said simply: 'This is Diana. I was wondering . . . Liz, would you and David do me the honor of making my wedding dress?'"
