The Miami Heat beat the Chicago Bulls on Monday night but they have really been struggling recently as they dropped all the way down to the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference before the win. It is no secret that one of the Heat's biggest issues is the fact that they cannot shoot the ball from distance consistently so they are trying all sorts of things to improve that area of their team. One of the players they are interested in is Dorell Wright, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

The Heat realize that their three point shooting woes won't be solved by anyone that is currently on the roster so they are exclusively looking outside the organization at free agents and trades. The Heat have been trying to get Ray Allen back on the team for a couple of years now but he likely will not come out of retirement. Miami has also been linked to Tony Wroten, who was cut by the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this season, but he is not a three point shooter so that is likely out of the question as well.

The Heat now have reportedly turned their attention to Dorell Wright as they have made a call to him expressing their interest. Miami is not the only team to have shown interest in Wright, who is currently playing in China, though. Wright will not be available to come back to the NBA until the middle of February but when he does become available it seems as though he will have plenty of suitors.

Wright was a free agent this offseason and he said he wanted to go back to Miami, where he played six seasons from 2004 through 2010, but the Heat never made an offer. Wright didn't get much interest at all as a free agent this past offseason but now that we are more than halfway through the NBA season team's know what holes they need to fill and a shooter like Wright is always coveted.

Wright has played for four different teams in his 11 NBA seasons and he is a career 37 percent shooter from three. Wright's last NBA stop was with the Portland Trail Blazers where he played for two seasons including last year where he shot 38 percent from long-range. The 30-year-old forward seems likely to get an NBA deal when his season is done in China. Whether that deal is with the Heat remains to be seen but they will have plenty of competition for the sharpshooter's services.
