In a world embroiled in the constant struggle against data caps, AT&T has provided its customers with a ray of nostalgic hope, bringing back an unlimited data plan that has been discontinued since 2010 for its wireless subscribers, according to PC MagAs with most services in the world, however, the unlimited data plan comes with a big catch.

Though the word "unlimited" is a sure-fire way to attract customers, AT&T has stated that the plan would only be made available as a bundle with its U-Verse TV and new DirecTV services.

Customers who are subscribers of the TV services could avail of the plan, which costs $100 for the first smartphone, with additional lines, including tablet computers with cellular capabilities, costing $40 each, reports Engadget.

Under the special plan, users would be able to enjoy more data to watch videos, play games, and surf the web on the go. Talk and text services are also unlimited.

Though the price is quite steep, AT&T has stated that after paying for the first three devices, which would set customers back around $180 per month, the fourth device registered under the plan would be free. Smartwatches could also be registered to the service for an additional $10 per month, according to Digital Trends.

Apart from this, customers who would avail of the plan would also enjoy a $10 discount that will be applied to either their monthly U-Verse or DirecTV bills. DirecTV and U-Verse subscribers without an AT&T phone plan could also avail of the unlimited data plan, on top of a $500 credit.

Glenn Lurie, president and CEO of AT&T Mobility, has announced that the promotion is a "limited time offer." However, no specific dates were mentioned.
