Pauly D is in the middle of a custody battle with Amanda Markert, the mother of his 5-month-old daughter Amabella. Even though the two are battling it out in court the "Jersey Shore" star told TMZ that he is definitely excited about being a father.

The celebrity website caught up with Pauly at a North Carolina airport where he confessed to be being a happy - and slightly - nervous new dad.

"Now it's not D.T.F," he said referring the "Jersey Shore" cast member's term "Down To F**k. "It's now diapers, tantrum and formula."

The famous DJ said he hopes to work things out with Markert, for the sake of the baby but they both have to let their lawyers handle the situation. The reality star and Markert are currently in a custody battle over the baby.

Markert, a former Hooter's waitress, is seeking child support while Pauly wants some level of custody rights.

"When I [saw] the pictures and everything, she was the first girl to ever steal my heart," the DJ said adding that he was hoping to visit his daughter for the first time next week. "She's adorable. I love her."

He did say that he thought the mother was using Amabella for fame and fortune. The two met through a mutual friend at Las Vegas's Rehab nightclub in August 2012 and ended up hooking up that night. A source told E! News that Pauly and Markert "didn't have a previous relationship."

"[He] wasn't exactly planning for it to happen this way," the source said. "but God works in mysterious ways."

Following the announcement Pauly began retweeting congratulatory messages eventually tweeting about how happy he was.

"Sometimes in life things aren't planned and they may even scare you at first, but they end up being a blessing," he posted
