A group of hackers stole valuable personal and financial information of several celebrities and government officials and published it online Monday 11 March, 2013, reports The Associated Press.
Celebrities and government authorities were left in a state of shock when an online website revealed what is alleged to be private financial information, social security numbers and bank statements including stars like Ashton Kutcher, Jay Z, Beyonce, Paris Hilton and many others.
According to Hiphop2013.com, which confirmed the site where all the sensitive information was leaked by the hackers Monday was www.exposed.su which is reported to be a Soviet Union site.
Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, Hulk Hogan, Donald Trump, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Mel Gibson and Arnold Schwarzenegger were among the other celebrities whose personal information including social security number, phone numbers, previous and current addresses and credit reports ware compromised.
The site also included some top public figures' sensitive information including Vice President Joe Biden, Director of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation Robert Mueller, Former United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Attorney General of the United States Eric Holder and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck.
The details of the targeted subjects had a quick link through which the private information was accessible. The website titled the hacked documents as "The Secret Files," according to Hiphop2013.com.
The Justice Department said that FBI is investigating the matter as to how such sensitive information was leaked from which is believed to be a secure database of city employees, according to an Associated Press report.
