Dying Ohio Man Walks Daughter Down to Aisle on Wedding Day

Scott Nagy, 56, from Ohio is almost dying but his condition didn't stop him from fulfilling a promise to her daughter. Traveling with a team of doctors and medical staff in an ambulance, he walked her down the aisle on her wedding day Saturday.

Guests inside the First Evangelical Lutheran Church cried and clapped while they witness Nagy take part in the wedding of his daughter Sarah. He was helped by a volunteer team of medical professionals as he escorted his 24-year-old daughter. At the end of the aisle, the bridegroom Angelo Salvatore and Rev. Chuck Knerem were waiting for them.

"It was a promise I made in March, to walk her down the aisle," Nagy told Fox News. "She's my princess. This is my definition of walking down the aisle."

Nagy was admitted at the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center since August after being diagnosed with urethral cancer last year. He is undergoing chemotherapy since then.

Doctors at the hospital were hesitant if he could make it to the wedding which was initially scheduled next year. They have slipped monitor cords underneath his tuxedo and have attached a tracheal tube as well. These things made it possible for him to make it down the aisle, kiss the ring bearer who is his grandson, and give thumbs up.

All the arrangements to help Nagy attend the wedding were prepared by Jacky Uljanic, a nurse intern at the hospital. As a preparation for the event, she put Nagy on a daily therapy to improve his physical strength. She also checked on the logistics beforehand. The ambulance that will take Nagy to church was donated by Physicians Medical Transport.

It was a dream come true wedding for Sarah as she has always wanted since childhood that her father would escort her when she walks down the aisle. At the vestibule, she suddenly burst into tears while telling her father how much she loves him.
