Teenagers Getting Bored With Facebook

Facebook admitted in a company report that teenagers and young users are rapidly getting bored of social networking sites and have begun looking for "cooler" apps.

Is Facebook slowly losing its charm? In a company report published last month, the social networking giant reported that many of its users, especially young ones, are getting bored of social networking sites and have begun spending lesser time on them. According to Facebook, teenagers are now on the lookout for "cooler" apps like Instagram and Snapchat.

This doesn't come as good news for Mark Zuckerberg's company as he fears this could harm their long-term business.

"We believe that some of our users, particularly our younger users, are aware of and actively engaging with other products and services similar to, or as a substitute for, Facebook. For example, we believe that some of our users have reduced their engagement with Facebook in favor of increased engagement with other products and services such as Instagram. In the event that our users increasingly engage with other products and services, we may experience a decline in user engagement and our business could be harmed," read the report

According to a report by Slash Gear, one of the top reasons for this is because teenagers prefer spending more time on their phones rather than laptops and desktops these days and Snapchat and Instagram have far more user-friendly mobile apps than Facebook.

Moreover, teenagers these days prefer sharing pictures more than anything else. The report also states that more and more young users now use Facebook as their last resort when they get bored of their social media mobile applications.

Adam Ludwin, developer of a social photo album app called Albumatic held an open interview with a group of people below the age of 25 to get feedback on his app. From the interview, he concluded that most of the negative feedback about his application came owing to its reliance on Facebook. Most teenagers said they were "bored" of Facebook.
