YouTube Red, a new service that gets rid of ads, was finally unveiled by executives on Wednesday.

The new feature, which will cost $9.99 for Android and $12.99 for iOS, allows members to access all content on YouTube but with added bonuses including ad-free viewing and the option to save videos and watch them offline or play them in the background of phones or tablets.

"People are embracing paid subscriptions for ad-free content at an incredible pace," said Robert Kyncl, chief business officer at YouTube, according to People.

YouTube Red will also include exclusive original movies and shows from top-earning YouTube stars, including the famous YouTuber "PewDiePie."

A member of the new platform will also be able to access other YouTube apps, including YouTube Gaming and YouTube Music, which will also be launched in the near future.

In fact, the idea for YouTube Red was created during the free trial period for YouTube Music. "A key learning was that [fans] didn't want to use these features on just music - they wanted to use them across all of YouTube," YouTube said in a press release, according to Fox News.

When consumers download the YouTube Music app, they get a two-week free YouTube Red membership; after that period, Music app users can extend their trial for another 30 days after entering credit card information, Cnet on Yahoo! News reports.

A YouTube Red subscription also automatically entitles subscriber access to other existing music streaming services, including Google Play Music.

The usual, free YouTube platform will still remain available for those who do not want to subscribe.

A month-long free trial will start exclusively in the U.S. The service will go global in 2016.
