Lamar Odom has been transferred from Sunrise hospital in Las Vegas to a hospital in Los Angeles, Calif., where he will continue to receive medical treatment after being found unresponsive Oct. 13 at a Las Vegas brothel.

The former NBA player was airlifted via a medical helicopter, accompanied by Khloé Kardashian, who has been by his side throughout his terrifying ordeal, according to E!.

Odom woke up from a four-day coma Friday. The 35-year-old was taken off a ventilator and is now breathing on his own.

His condition has been improving ever since he regained consciousness, but he will need "a lot" of rehab in the coming months. Lamar is "making fast progress," and has even started moving his arms and legs, but still cannot stand up, even with help.

Even though Odom is currently on dialysis due to kidney failure, he has shown signs of improvement. Odom passed a swallowing test, a promising sign of neurological function, and has been able to communicate using hand gestures, as HNGN previously reported.

"Each day Lamar is getting stronger and reaching significant milestones in his recovery," said Odom's aunt JaNean Mercer. "We are committed to remaining by his side as a family for our champion, who we love immensely."

His kidneys continue to fail, though, and this isn't a good sign as he will have to undergo six hours of dialysis a day for the damage that has been done, according to TMZ. All of his other organs that were once failing have bounced back, but "his kidneys are shot," a source said. Because of this, there is a good chance he may need a transplant.

Now that he is at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A., he will be receiving several brain tests to finally determine the extent of the damage done.

His estranged wife Khloé Kardashian still has not left his side and was even in the helicopter while he was being transferred. "You can tell it's taking a toll on Khloé," a source told E! News. "But she is staying strong for Lamar."
