Bill Murray will spread Christmas cheer this holiday season on Netflix with his upcoming special, "A Very Murray Christmas," featuring a few celebrity friends and whole lot of tinsel.

Sofia Coppola directs the musically-driven holiday special is set inside New York City's iconic Carlyle hotel where the legendary comedian is preparing to host a live, international holiday broadcast. Unfortunately, a blizzard shuts down production and Murray must make the best of the situation, singing and celebrating with friends, hotel employees and anyone else who comes in off the cold city streets.

"Tonight will go down as the greatest night in history," Murray tells the wait staff before the show.

Joining the "Saturday Night Live" alum will be George Clooney, Chris Rock, Miley Cyrus, Amy Poehler, Jason Schwartzman, Michael Cera, Maya Rudolph, Rashida Jones, Paul Shaffer and Phoenix. Other stars dropping by include Julie White, David Johansen, Jenny Lewis, Frederic Moulin and more.

Murray co-wrote the special with Coppola and his longtime friend Mitch Glazer, who also wrote "Scrooged" starring Murray. Coppola last directed the actor in 2003's "Lost in Translation."

"It was sort of something we were just making for ourselves," Coppola said in statement. "It really came out of talking (to Bill and Mitch), and it just seemed fun to get people together that we're all fans of."

"A Very Murray Christmas" will premiere later this year on Netflix.
