BlackBerry Delays BBM Launch on iOS and Android Due to Leaked Apps

Blackberry announced on Sunday that it is delaying the launch of BBM for iOS and Android for them to have more time to resolve issues related to the leaked apps. The messaging service is supposed to be launched this weekend.

While the iOS app is already visible in the Apple App store, Google Play Store was flooded with dozens of fake BBM apps but no signs of the official BBM for Android. It was really planned to have an earlier release for the iOS devices before Android.

The company says that they tried their best to fix the issue related to the leaked versions of the BBM for Android app which was already downloaded by 1.1 million users. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to resolve the problem immediately leaving them with no other choice but to delay the launch. Conversely, the company says that the downloaded app for iOS can still be used, but BlackBerry will not be launching it to any market as of the moment.

The company claims, though, that the leaked version of the app for Android will be disabled soon.

The company’s next line of plan for BBM is to stage a staggered launch of the BBM for Android and restart the BBM for iOS launch. The company did not release any timeline for its new plans, it only announced in a statement “our teams continue to work around the clock to bring BBM to Android and iPhone, but only when it’s good to go and we know it will live up to your expectations of BBM.

With all these issues coming for BlackBerry, instead of consumers hitting just this week, the company is facing huge monetary losses, major workforce layoffs and a twist in the company’s efforts on business ventures.
