The Louisiana State Tigers may be kept out of the college football playoff because of their game canceled game this past Saturday, according to Fox Sports' Tim Brando.

Lightning near Baton Rouge caused officials to cancel LSU's home opener against McNeese State Saturday after delaying the game for almost four hours.

"We just felt like it was not in the best interest of our players to play this game," said LSU athletic director Joe Alleva via Associated Press. The game won't be made up, which means that LSU will only have an 11-game season.

This could hurt the Tigers in the long run. Although it seems ridiculous, that not playing what was essentially a warm-up game pretty much could disqualify them from making the playoffs this year, it is possible though. If LSU loses one game, and another team only loses one game in the SEC West, then the question is: who goes to the SEC Championship?

Les Miles will likely have his team ready, and they truly kick off their season against Dak Prescott and Mississippi State. The Tigers are traveling to Davis Wake Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi, and will face a hostile environment as these teams are both battling for their seasons. One loss for either of these teams could keep them out of the playoff conversation and to start the season with a division opponent loss could be detrimental.

While it is highly unlikely that Miles and his Tigers will be held out of the playoffs for a game canceled against McNeese State, it is something to keep an eye on as the season continues.
