Sarah Palin has added her name to a growing list of people in the United States who demand that both natives and immigrants speak "American." In an interview on Sunday's "State of the Union" on CNN, Palin stated that it would be ideal for the nation as a whole to speak one language: "American."

This statement came during an attempt to challenge Jeb Bush's patriotism, because Bush is fluent in Spanish. Her criticism comes just a few days after Donald Trump issued a similar challenge to Bush after he spoke in Spanish during one of his rallies.

During the interview, it appeared that Palin was supportive of Bush's fluency in Spanish.

"It's a benefit of Jeb Bush to be able to be so fluent in Spanish, because we have a large and wonderful Hispanic population that is helping to build America," she said, according to The Globe and Mail.

She then seemingly made a 180 degree turn by saying that if someone wants to be in America then they need to speak the language.

"On the other hand, I think we can send a message and say, 'You want to be in America, A, you'd better be here legally or you're out of here. B, when you're here, let's speak American...let's speak English, and that's a kind of a unifying aspect of the nation is the language that is understood by all," she said, according to Jezebel.

Bush has yet to comment on Palin's statement, but it's unlikely to deter him from speaking Spanish whenever he wants - an intention he already revealed after being challenged by Trump.
