Rob Gronkowski Injury Update: Tight End Says He's 'Improving'; Not Worried About Percentages

If there’s one thing Rob Gronkowski wants New England Patriots fans to know about his recovery, it’s that he’s really “improving.”

The Patriots tight end recently spoke about his injury, according to ESPNBoston.com.

Gronkowski wouldn’t put a particular number on how far along he is in the recovery process but did say he did say the process was moving along.

"I really don't have a percentage," he said. "I don't really think about percentages like that, where my body's at. The only thing I'm focused on is improving every day. And if I'm improving every day and I'm moving in the right direction, then that's all you can ask for, moving in the right direction at all times."

All signs point to Grokowski’s unavailability for Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. However, he’s trying to be ready no matter when he’s asked to step on the field.

"Do I expect to play on Sunday?" Gronkowski said. "I'm preparing every single day to the max of my ability and preparing every day to do the best I can. When my number is called, that's when I'll play."

Gronkowski is returning from back surgery which took place approximately 10 weeks ago. The Patriots had the option of putting Gronkowksi on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list but chose instead to activate him for the regular season. If the Patriots had put “Gronk” on the list, he would have not been available for six for six weeks.

He was able to join the team for its first regular season practice on Sunday. Although he was able to pratice in full pads, the practice report said Gronkowski was only able to participate in a limited capacity.

"Right now, we just take it day by day and [I'm] improving a lot," he said. "I've been improving since last week, I've been improving since three weeks ago. The only thing I can ask out of myself, the coaches ask out of me, the trainers ask out of me, is just to take it every day at a time and just to improve every day."

The Patriots play the Bills Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET at Ralph Winston Stadium.
