The new cast of "The Amazing Race" has been revealed. CBS announced the 11 teams that will travel across the world for a chance to win the grand prize of $1 million. The cast includes a very diverse group of people such as two former NFL players - Charles Pitts II and Ephraim Salaam - married ER doctors, cousins, theater performers, childhood friends, baseball wives and more.
Pitts is currently a sports anchor and analyst in Texas and played nine seasons in the NFL for the Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks. Salaam is the co-host of Fox Sports Live and spent 13 years as a professional player.
This season will follow the teams as they trek over 35,000 miles across four continents and nine countries. Viewers will see them take a bone-chilling plunge in Norway, paraglide across the Iquique, Chile skyline and get behind the wheel at a Formula One Race in Abu Dhabi.
The new season will also bring back the Double Express Pass twist which was introduced last season, in which the first team to check in at the pit stop will earn two "Express Passes." One they keep for themselves and the second they have to give to another team.
Last season's winners were hockey-playing brothers Bates and Anthony Battaglia from Raleigh, N.C. The brothers told The Hollywood Reporter how they planned on spending their money after the big win. Jokingly Bates said he was going to buy his brother "some new teeth."
Anthony lost his two front teeth while paying hockey and explained in an interview that he didn't get them fixed because "hockey players, we don't fix our teeth until we're done playing."
The new season of "The Amazing Race" premieres Sunday, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
