Quarterback Peyton Manning has long been considered not just one of the best players, but also one of the classiest individuals in the NFL since being drafted into the league first-overall by the Indianapolis Colts in the 1998 NFL Draft. Manning added to that reputation this weekend as the future Hall of Famer reportedly made an appearance at the Naval Marine Corps Reserve Center, the site of the most recent and deadly U.S. tragedy, according to Beth Burger and Dan Kennedy of WRCB-TV.

Last week, a shooter, identified as Muhammad Youssef Abudlazeez, opened fire at the Naval Reserve Center, killing four Marines and injuring another serviceman, a 26-year-old Navy sailor, who would eventually pass away on Saturday. A Chattanooga police offer and another marine remain hospitalized due to the injuries they suffered as a result of the attack.

Manning, likely entering the final year of his NFL career and, no doubt, hopeful of one last chance at a Super Bowl victory with the Denver Broncos, took time out of his preseason preparations to travel to Chattanooga this weekend in order to visit with military personnel and police officers. He played collegiately at the University of Tennessee in nearby Knoxville.
