"Arrow" may breath new life into the DC character Constantine, who headlined the short-lived NBC series. Producers of the CW series are in talks with DC to introduce the character into Oliver Queen's universe.

Matt Ryan starred as the demon hunter and master of the occult on NBC's "Constantine," which was canceled in May and failed to find a new home on another network.

In an interview with IGN, executive producer Wendy Mericle sounded most interested in having Ryan reprise his role if "Arrow" could get the right to bring in the character.

"Yeah, we really want to do it," Mericle said. "It's something we've been talking to DC about and it's just a question of some political things, but also the actor's schedule. We're trying to work it out, but we don't know 100 percent if it's going to happen."

"Arrow" star Stephen Amell also told IGN that he has his "fingers crossed" for the crossover. He had early talks with DC Comics about guest starring on the NBC show before its cancellation to explore an overlapping storyline between the two characters.

"The reason that I was going to guest star on 'Constantine,' at least the idea that we were throwing around was he's an expert when it comes to the Lazarus Pit, which is now something that is a part of and will continue to be a part of 'Arrow,'" Amell said during his appearance at the Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con in May (via Comicbook.com).

"Arrow" will inject a little more mysticism into its plot this season with the addition of DC character Damien Darhk, played by Neal McDonough.

As for whether Constantine will help Oliver battle this new foe, Mericle is "really optimistic and we would love to have him."

"Arrow" will return for its fourth season on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
