It's hard to be a comedy on NBC these days.

The network launched four new comedies this season - "A to Z, "Bad Judge," "Marry Me" and "One Big Happy" - and now all have been cancelled. The sophomore comedy, "About a Boy," also got the boot.

On the drama side, the network gave the axe to Katherine Heigl's political thriller, "State of Affairs," and "Constantine," based on the DC Comics character. They join the short-lived midseason series, "Allegiance."

The latter may still have a chance to find new life on another network. Warner Bros. TV is expected to show elsewhere, according to multiple outlets. It probably won't find a new home on Syfy, a once rumored destination for the one-season drama.

Matt Ryan starred as the titular character, a man struggling with his faith who suddendly has to defend humanity against dark forces. The show was based on the comic books produced by DC imprint Vertigo.

"State of Affairs" saw the return of Heigl to the small screen following her exit from Grey's Anatomy in 2010 to focus on movies. The show, which also starred Alfre Woodard, premiered to decent ratings, but eventually exited quietly on a cliffhanger.
