Fans of the popular One Direction fan fiction novel "After" will be happy to hear that plans to make a film based on the story will push through.

Anna Todd, the writer of the "Fifty Shades"-esque novel, made the announcement on Friday through her official Twitter page.

Screenwriter Sarah McMartin, who is currently a script writer for the CBS comedy television series "Mom," has been chosen to pen the film script for the novel. Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot will be producing the film through Offspring Entertainment, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The novel is centered on a young college freshman named Tessa, who finds herself dangerously attracted to abrasive British college boy Hardin, who is described as having "tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, tattoos and lip ring".

The character Hardin is loosely based on One Direction member Harry Styles, according to the AV Club.

"After" was first published on Wattpad, a website used to publish fictional stories made by regular people, Billboard reported. The novel has garnered over 1 billion reads since then,
