The "Walking Dead" universe is expanding this summer and on Monday, production for its newest member, "Fear The Walking Dead," moved to Vancouver.

Screen Rant reports that Vancouver will be the where a majority of the first season will be filmed. Shooting will also take place in Los Angeles. Along with the shift in location, AMC released a behind-the-scenes video of production.

The video features interviews with "Fear The Walking Dead" showrunner Dave Erickson, executive producer Robert Kirkman, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd and provides fans with some more information on the upcoming series.

"It tells its own story," executive producer Robert Kirkman said. "You dont need to have watched "The Walking Dead" to understand "Fear The Walking Dead."

Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd agrees that "Fear The Walking Dead" is its own independent show.

"'Fear the Walking Dead' is an entirely new original concept." she said. "It's got a completely different vibe. A completely different feel."


Dave Erickson, the series showrunner, explained that by going back in time, the staff has more creative room.

"There's so much story by way of the zombie world that has to come." he said. "It's incredibly dynmaic and it's incredibly action-driven."

The first season of "Fear The Walking Dead" will feature six one-hour episodes and premiere at some point this summer.
