Korean pop star Psy may be known for his catchy tunes and over-the-top music videos, but beyond the sunglasses and silly dance moves may be a serious problem.

In a recent interview with U.K.'s Sunday Times, Psy admitted to heavy drinking, calling vodka his "best friend."

"If I'm happy, I'm drinking. If I'm sad, I'm drinking. If it's raining, I'm drinking. If it's sunny, I'm drinking. If it's hot, I'm drinking. If it's cold, I'm drinking," he said.

In fact, the only time the musician said he isn't drinking is when he is hung over, which he admits happens a lot.

Psy is best known for his crazy dance video for the hit song "Gangnam Style," which broke records in 2012 as the first YouTube video to ever hit one billion views.

But before all of the success, Psy's life was far from perfect. According to the Sunday Times, his father was abusive and beat him even as an adult. The abuse reportedly stopped when the then-aspiring singer wrote a song about the loneliness he felt without a close relationship to his dad.

"I thought, 'Wow, the power of music,'" he said of the experience.

Psy also ran into trouble with the law when he was arrested for marijuana possession in 2001.

"Spending that kind of period [in jail] is not good, especially as a member of my family," he said of his one-month stay. "But as an artist, the more experience, the better the creation."

Despite his struggles, Psy is staying positive. He's proven he has some staying power with his second single "Gentleman," which racked up 200 million views in it's first week.

"I'm a very positive person," he said. "So if s**t happens, I think maybe this happens because a huge amount of happiness is coming to me."
