On top of state and federal law enforcement and razor wire at the border, people trying to cross into Texas also have to contend with alligators, Gov. Greg Abbott warned in a social media post.

In his relentless bid to keep migrants out of Texas, Republican Gov. Greg Abbott pulled another warning out of his pocket for anyone trying to cross the Rio Grande: Alligators!

He posted the warning on his X account Sunday with a video of a massive alligator lurking just off the river's shore.

"Alligators are in the Rio Grande," he warned. "There are warning signs posted in some sectors. Cross at your own risk."

Thousands of Abbbott's X followers marked the post with a heart, and several urged stocking the river with more of the giant reptiles. One called the creatures the best "border wall."

Abbott got into trouble for adding his own dangers beginning last year with rolls of razor wire. That triggered an outcry — and a legal challenge — from federal officials and Border Patrol workers, who were also blocked from the border faced injury by the Abbott booby-traps as they arrested undocumented immigrants..

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in January Border Patrol agents can cut the wire, but Abbott vowed to continue to place it along the border.
