A Flying glass table struck and killed a Florida man doing outside maintenance work in the middle of a storm.

The freak accident occurred last Friday while Humberto Rodriguez was fixing an electrical fence outside the Flamingo South Beach towers in Miami Beach at around 7 p.m., NBC Miami reported.

Strong gusts of winds sweeping through the South Florida area lifted a glass table from a ninth-floor balcony, striking the maintenance worker.

Doctors at Jackson Memorial Hospital tried saving Rodriguez, but he succumbed to his injuries, NBC Miami reported.

"Our hearts go out to the family, friends, neighbors and colleagues of Humberto Rodriguez," Aimco, the company that manages Flamingo towers, told the station.

"Humberto was an outstanding member of the Flamingo team, known for his dedication to helping residents and for treating everyone with respect. He will be missed by the entire team at Apartment Investment and Management Company, where he built his career over the last 17 years."

The incident comes on the heels of another freak accident in New York City where a woman was killed by a flying piece of plywood wrenched loose by the wind.
