A blind Harbor Seal is being cared for by the Alaska SeaLife Center. He was the last Harbor Seal pup rescued in 2014, according to ZooBorns. He was found at Land's End in Homer, Alaska.

The pup, Bryce, cannot be released per the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration-National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA). The veterinarians caring for Bryce think his blindness may have been brought on by a head trauma.

A typical Harbor Seal is shy, according to ZooBorns, but center staff says Bryce is quite adventurous. He enjoys exploring, pools and changes in his environment. He uses his sharp sense of hearing for "husbandry behaviors, such as hand-feeding and targeting," according to ZooBorns. Instead of a target buoy, a shaker is rattled, so Bryce can use his hearing instead of the usual visual cues used to train seals.

There has been slight improvement observed in one eye, which is heartening to vet staff. Bryce will continue to live at the sealife center until he gets a permanent home.
