Google launched its Chrome Remote Desktop for iOS devices on Tuesday, allowing iPad and iPhone users to remotely access their computers.

The app requires devices running on iOS 7.0 or later that are compatible with iPhones, iPads and iPod touches.

Google first released the app's Android version in April last year. And just like the Android app, the search engine giant used its built-in assets to create a secure remote connection allowing users to access their files through multiple devices, according to the Apple Insider.

Files are kept secured in the app, and users are required to type in an authorization code before they can remotely connect to any of the devices. Now that Google has the app running on both Android and iOS devices, it is expected to release the app's usage rate later this year. There are no plans yet if Google will make the app available to BlackBerry and Windows devices, VentureBeat reported.

Chrome Remote Desktop is just one of the remote connection apps available for iOS devices. Other popular apps include the PocketCloud, TeamViewer, Splashtop 2, LogMeIn and GoToMyPC.
