Two suspects were charged and arrested on Wednesday for raping an intoxicated 16-year-old girl at a Johns Hopkins University fraternity party in November, Baltimore police said, adding that the men are being held without bail at Baltimore City Detention Center.

Identified as 20-year-old Chaz Haggins and 19-year-old Ethan Turner, both the suspects and the girl were confirmed to not be students or otherwise connected to the university in any manner, spokesman Dennis O'Shea told the New York Daily News. Instead, both men are from suburban Reisterstown, Md., about 20 miles northwest of Baltimore.

"Johns Hopkins is pleased to learn there have been arrests in this case," the university said in a statement. "We are most grateful to Baltimore police and prosecutors for their active, diligent investigation and to our own security officers for providing assistance. The victim in this case continues to be in the hearts and minds of our university community."

On Nov. 2, the suspects raped the teen around 4 a.m. inside a bathroom at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity party on St. Paul St., an off-campus house, according to the Baltimore Sun.

The teen girl from Baltimore, who had a blood alcohol content of 0.11, reported the assault to the police, claiming she'd attended the gathering with her sister and was forced to perform sex acts on the men before they raped her, the paper reported.

However, Turner has maintained his innocence, attorney Matthew Fraling said, adding that his client is eagerly awaiting his day in court. A lawyer for Haggins could not immediately be reached for comment.

Both face charges of rape and conspiracy to commit rape.

Following the incident, the university placed the fraternity on "interim suspension" and launched an investigation "based on reports of underage drinking and other possible violations of university policy at the party that night," the statement reads.
