Amid the colossal chaos, New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has decided to give quarterback Geno Smith one last chance to prove himself. The second-year signal caller will get the starting nod against the Miami Dolphins Monday night. Smith replaced Michael Vick during a 38-3 blowout loss against the Buffalo Bills this past weekend.

Smith is just 1-7 as a starter this season with only seven touchdown passes. The remaining games will be somewhat of an audition for Smith as his return to New York next season seems unlikely at this point. Vick's future is even more uncertain.

"The decision is also an interesting one from Vick's perspective," Conor Orr of NFL.com wrote. "On one hand, he came into the season hoping this one-year deal could propel him to another starting role next year. On the other, reports of his uninspiring training camp and relative acceptance of a backup role could not ring truer, especially when Vick himself started to admit that he wasn't prepared for games. What kind of opportunity will he get next season?"

It's likely that Ryan and possibly general manager John Idzik could also follow the failed quarterbacks out the door after this season. The Jets have not had a winning season since 2010 and fans have been forced to suffer through six seasons of Mark Sanchez and Smith at quarterback. Wholesale changes could be coming in New York this offseason.
